INTRODUCTION

The year is 2095. A ruthless regime has banned all use of technology in schools and society, leading to the second Dark Ages.However they have finally been overthrown by an enlightened and popular people's army. One of their priorities on re establishing peace and order is to establish an effective education of the young and to learn from the past.

 

TASK

You have been assigned as a member of the Government committe to investigate past educational strategies, in particular the use of iPad technology.You must investigate all you can about the pros and cons of this teaching tool, as well as examining how it can be used by different subjects. Your job is to evaluate the importance of the Ipad. Your report will be delivered to the government and will provide the basis for their 22nd century Educational policy

 

PROCESS

Divide into groups of approximately 3-4 people and adopt a role as either Teacher, Parent, Student or Reporter. In your intial discussions you need to mindmap your thoughts using Popplet In your groups you must complete the following activities but you must investigate from the perspective of Teacher, parent and student.

  1. Describe your favourite Apps and explain how they can be effectively used in the teaching of a Topic
  2. Explain how that App can be integrated effectively in the teaching of a Topic.
  3. Compare the pros and Cons of using iPads from the different perspectives.As part of your collaborative process you must document and share your ideas with your group through email or icloud
  4. . Create a persuasive presentation to deliver to your Government explaining why iPads should or should not be included in their 22nd century Education policy.
  5. You may choose any format but highly recommended are Pages, Book Creator or Keynote
  6. You must undertake 1 peer mentoring dialogue, using the two stars and a wish approach (template)
  7. Your final presentation should be uploaded to Showbie for Governmental approval.
